Wow. I was very impressed with gimp. It took me a little while to figure out how to get it working (a little vague on locating and installing X11 on Intel Macs), but once i got everything installed.. it was almost like a free version of photoshop. Great work, I am very excited to see how this develops.

Tiger 1.4.2. It works fine.

Summary

This new version, 2.2.8 just doesn't work on my Tiger (installed on /Applications/ThirdParty/ folder). I don't know if I need to nuke any previous gimp settings or not, but after overwriting my old binary with the new one, the new one just doesn't run. It loads the first start-up screen, but without fonts or graphics, just a plain, grey splash screen. And then, nothing happens, except my cpu fan running faster and faster as the time goes by until I kill Gimp. Something is broken in the new version..

I deleted the old 2.x user files, and launched the GIMP 2.2. It takes a while, and then it will run through the installer, before the new 2.2 is installed. The new installed 2.2 will run very slowly during the startup stage for the first time, but subsequently, the launches are much faster. No problem at all.

The programs I like are many, the programs I love are few and far between: MySQL, phpMyAdmin, Gimp 2.2. The elephant in the room is, of course, Adobe Photoshp and its fleet of companion image makers. But Gimp is all I need, and social software has mighty good karma.

'Great version 2.2! More and more endearing'

Konica minolta drivers for mac. Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
When I used Gimp for the first time, there was so much resistance because the GUI is almost alien. The more you use, and the better the versions get, the more you feel like using it. With version 2.2, it has approached a high level of usability, albeit one that comes with practice and some learning curve. Recommended.

Thanks to the developer for patching 2.0.5 to get the .pdf graphic importing back!
Works great? And is about one million times cheaper than Photoshop (aka FREE!)

I don't want a java-based graphics tool - or, at least, I don't want to lose the X11 version of this!

Aaron Voisine tip about focus follows mouse adressed my only regret that was, after all, solved by reading the iincluded read-me rtf (Sorry for not reading the read me file ;-)
Nice support for a free app. I'm wondering how altruistic these guys can be, mainly compairing with those guys (sorry to say) from openOSX..
